Welcome to Hello, Katelandia!

Exploring Canyonlands National Park

A little bit about me:

I recently moved to Minnesota, and am getting to know my new home. Before moving here, I lived in Colorado for 7ish years. In that time, I explored many mountain passes, graduated from college, and got married. Before my Colorado adventure, I grew up in Wisconsin, and I am a Midwesterner at heart.

Boxes I am often in include:

I recently finished my bachelors degree in rhetoric (particularly pop culture), conflict, and gender. I work a 9-5(ish) in the insurance industry. In my spare time, I love to take pictures, meditate, garden, and cross stitch. I am happiest out hiking or exploring botanical gardens. I am enchanted by herbalism – the theory, history, and practice. Mostly, I watch a lot of TV and putter around with my houseplants.

I am also a trained massage therapist and Reiki master. I have self-studied herbs for over 10 years and am now taking formal herbal medicine classes through The Herbal Academy of New England (as well as short-term local classes). I revived this blog to write about my herbal studies, self-care habits, gardening and kitchen experiments, and share my photography. I am also (slowly) compiling an electronic materia medica and a reference library (and hope to add reviews for books soon!).

I am active on Instagram, where I post pictures of plants, book reviews, and other outdoorsy images – I’d love to talk to you there!
